Body found in Welland river

The body of a woman has been pulled from the Welland Recreational Canal by Niagara police divers Wednesday morning.

The body was spotted floating in the water near Highway 406 around 7:45am.
It’s believed the woman was only in the water a short time. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
Police are investigating if the body is connected to a single vehicle crash in the same area around 5:30am.
