Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has identified the body of a man found in Lake Erie as that of a person who went missing from a Long Point cottage.

Police say Alexander Schweitzer, of Norfolk County, had been reported missing by friends who were unable to locate him Friday morning after spending a night at a cottage on Millionaires Island.

Members of the OPP Marine Unit, OPP Aviation Services, Emergency Response Team, Under Water Search and Recovery Unit were called in to help with the investigation.

The 20-year-old’s body was located in the waters of Lake Erie around 7:30 p.m. on Friday. He was brought back to shore where he was pronounced dead by the attending coroner.

A post-mortem examination was done in Hamilton on Saturday and his death is not being treated as suspicious. Police say no foul play is suspected.
