As boating season pulls up anchor the Hamilton Marine Unit is setting sail in the harbour. With the arrival of warmer weather many of us like to head out on the water to keep cool but every year, more than 100 Canadians drown while boating.

That’s why the Hamilton Police Marine Unit and the Hamilton Port Authority have launched Operation Safe and Sober. The campaign aims to increase education, patrolling and safety checks. Throughout the summer police are keeping an eye out for impaired boaters and conducting standard equipment checks.
