Few things can bring a country together like sports. Despite falling short of a world series birth, the Toronto Blue Jays gave us all one heck of a show.

Don’t let the calendar fool you, today is the first day of fall. The boys of summer have called it a season.

Despite stellar pitching the Jays offense, which combined for 22 runs against Texas, only mustered eight in a best of seven against the now world series-bound Cleveland.

But that’s who the 2016 Jays have been: streaky. This wasn’t the same 2015 team that led the majors in runs and homers. It was clear early this year, that the Jays would have a target on their back or face. But fans packed the Rogers Centre leading the American League. But as the regular season drew to a close, fans were still wondering: are the Jays going to miss the playoffs?

However, on the very last day of the regular season, the Jays stuck their foot into the postseason door, then kicked it down.

The Jays reminded the country how fun playoff baseball could be.

But also, how painful it is too.

Regardless of what happens, spring will be here in no time. A new season of ups and downs, a rollercoaster fans can’t wait to ride again.

Toronto was once rated the worst sports city in North America. Times are changing however, the Raptors – who are coming off their best season ever – tip off next week, TFC is in the playoffs for the first time and the Leafs, though young, are fun and exciting. that’s enough sports content to keep you busy until spring training.
