The Toronto Blue Jays have officially introduced Ross Atkins as the team’s new general manager.
The 42-year-old becomes the seventh GM in Jays’ history. Atkins replaces Alex Anthopoulos, who opted to walk away at the end of this past season.
Atkins says he’s excited and ready for the challenges ahead. “I couldn’t be more excited that it is in this city and representing a country. And it is something I will take very seriously.”
“Having seen that and watched that from a distance and watching what it meant for this country and this city was really exciting to think about when this organization has a sustainable winner.”
Atkins spent the last 15 years working with the Cleveland Indians organization, most recently serving as the vice-president of player personnel. He follows Mark Shapiro, also recruited from Cleveland.
