Fire has destroyed a rural home in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

The house on Line 3 Rd between Concessions 1 and 2 was empty, and had been up for sale.

The blaze broke out around midnight. Four stations sent 35 firefighters to bring it under control during humid weather, when heat exhaustion is a big concern.

There’s no word what sparked it; damage is set at $300,000.
