Bikers rally together to help stop bullying

We first told you the story about 10-year-old Becca Beattie on Friday. She’s a young girl with a learning disability who says she was being bullied everyday at school. Her mother reached out on social media and got an overwhelming response from hundreds of bikers.

About 220 bikers showed up to escort Becca home from Annunciation of our Lord elementary school.

“They didn’t even know what she looked like, didn’t know anything about her other than she’s getting bullied,” said Becca’s mom, Jodie.

Becca has a learning disability and has trouble reading. She says she talked to her teachers and the principal about the name calling but it continued.

The principal wouldn’t talk with us today, but the Superintendent of Education says the family hasn’t complained to the principal yet.

“Whenever these situations are brought to the teachers attention, the principals attention they’ll do a full investigation and my understanding is that hasn’t happened yet, but we’ll follow up on it,” said Corrado Ciapanna.

Not only did more than 200 bikers pull up in front of the school Friday afternoon, they collected money to buy Becca a new bicycle, and a leather vest to let her know she isn’t alone.
