On August 14th, 2003, a huge blackout hit North America, leaving millions of people in the dark.

Tuesday however, the McGuinty government says Ontario’s electricity system can take the heat.

Power continues to flow, despite record-setting temperatures this summer.

July put the highest demand on Ontario’s grid since august 2007.

The province says its move to bring over 10,000 megawatts of new, clean energy online after the 2003 blackout is helping the system stay strong.

That year, over 10 million people in Ontario and 45 million people in the U.S. had their power cut off for several hours.
