Beamsville man facing charges after standoff

A Beamsville man is facing several charges after a lengthy police standoff.

It started Tuesday afternoon after a man, believed to be armed with knives and swords, barricaded himself inside a home. A woman had left the house before police got there.

After eight hours of negotiation, police went in around 1 p.m. and took the man into custody. The 29-year-old has been charged with assault and forcible confinement.
