Water quality issues are taking the fun out of some hamilton beaches this weekend. Hamilton’s Bayfront Beach is warning bathers not to enter the water because of high pollution levels. The water levels were tested on Thursday and e.coli levels are too high for safe swimming. That was also the case at Pier 4 Park, testing at Pier 4 was also done on Thursday and it too didn’t make the grade.
It was a different story in Burlington. Beachway Park was crowded on this hot summer day after water tests showed acceptable levels. The waterfront mecca which will be turned into a provincial showpiece in coming years attracted a huge crowd of swimmers and sun bathers. It truly feels like summer in the city and a beach visit was near the top of the list for many after last weekends torrential rains and unseasonably cold temperatures.
