Bat rabies confirmed in Hamilton

The City of Hamilton has confirmed its first case of bat rabies since August 2017.
Rabies is a fatal virus that affects mammals, including humans. It’s transmitted through the saliva of an infected animal, usually through a bite.
The city is reminding people to keep a safe distance from wild animals that can carry rabies like bats, raccoons, skunks and foxes, as well as stray of unknown cats and dogs.
