Barton Secondary rewarded with trophy
Students at Hamilton’s Barton Secondary School received some special recognition on Tuesday.
During an assembly, the school was presented with a gold trophy for raising the most money in this year’s “Cops and Cats” campaign.
This fundraising initiative sees Hamilton police and Ticat players take part in friendly basketball games with local secondary schools.
Each student pays $2 to watch a game, with all proceeds going to McMaster Children’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation.
This year, over $14,000 was raised in a total of 14 games, with Barton Secondary raising the most.
The fundraising initiative began back in 2001, and has since raised a total of $167,000.
