Barton Jail inmate dead

Ontario’s correctional services ministry confirms that an inmate at the Hamilton-Wentworth Detention Centre died after using drugs inside the jail.

Other inmates suggest Marty Tykoliz, 38, overdosed on a powdered methadone.

The death is now a Coroner’s investigation, with Hamilton Police investigating how the drugs were brought into the Barton Street Jail. Guards have complained in the past that drug smuggling into the facility is a problem.
