(Update)

Police say they may have found more drug lab chemicals, dumped at the side of highway 56 in Binbrook.

The highway was shut down between Hall road and Haldibrook Road for several hours Friday morning, after police , fire and hazmat teams were called in to investigate the discovery. After determining that containers holding the chemicals were not leaking, the Ministry of the Environment stepped in and ordered the property owner to remove and properly dispose of the chemicals.

Hamilton police, the RCMP and the MOE will now continue their investigation to discover who dumped the containers at the side of the road. Police say there is no danger to public safety — but they are looking into the possibility that the chemicals may have been used to make synthetic drugs like ecstasy, or crystal meth. A larger quantity of similar chemicals was discovered Wednesday night off Trinity Road in Ancaster. Police are also considering a possible link, between the two incidents.
