Barn fire blamed on lightning

When the lightning hit the barn, a loud bang could be heard from several kilometres away.

It happened on Highway 3 near Decewsville Road outside Cayuga. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze, stopping the flames from jumping to another barn close by. The Metcalfe family owns the property but rents it out.

There were personal watercraft and other vehicles inside the barn. Damage is estimated at more than $200,000.
