Bantleman behind bars for full year

It’s now been a year since Neil Bantleman was taken into custody in Indonesia.

The Burlington teacher remains behind bars since being charged last July with sexual abuse of three children at the international school he worked at in Jakarta.

The 46-year-old was sentenced to ten years in April after a court found him guilty.

His lawyers have filed an appeal of the conviction, citing numerous irregularities.   International media also questioned the conviction.

A decision may come down as early as the end of this month.
