Third trial underway for Badgerow
The case of a former steelworker accused of killing a Stoney Creek woman nearly 30 years ago is underway in Kitchener.
Robert Badgerow is on trial for the third time in the murder of 23 year old nursing assistant Diane Werendowicz.
His last two trials ended in mistrials.
In his second trial that ended in June, the jury couldn’t decide on a verdict.
The 52 year old Binbrook man is accused of raping and killing Werendowicz, in the summer of 1981.
Her body was found face down in the creek with a tire on top of her and her purse strap around her neck.
The trial is expected to last until Christmas.
