Ava DuVernay’s new film ‘Origin’ comes to Toronto International Film Festival

The Toronto International Film Festival continues all week, with more red carpets and premieres.
Director Ava DuVernay’s newest movie ‘Origin’ has made its way from the Venice Film Festival over to TIFF for the North American premiere Monday afternoon.

The film follows Aunjanue Ellis as Isabel Wilkerson, the first African American woman to win a Pulitzer Prize in journalism, as she researches and writes her 2020 book Caste: The Origins Of Our Discontents.
In the work, Wilkerson travels to Germany and India to research the origins of social and racial hierarchies as a way to examine racism in the United States.
