Saturday night’s Toronto subway stabbing happened just hours after two people were stabbed at a London, England Underground station in what police are describing as a possible “terrorist incident.”

While there is no confirmation it was terrorism, a witness said he saw a man led away in handcuffs by police, saying “This is for Syria.”

It happened at east London’s Leytonstone Underground Station. Police say one person was seriously injured and one man was arrested. Witness David Michael Garcia says he was there when the stabbing happened, and when the attacker was led away in handcuffs: “I look over, I see a guy huddled on the floor behind the barriers and the guy brandishing a knife, it was a small blade, about 3 inches long, and he’s screaming “Go on then! run! run!” and there’s just people like wanting to go forward to try and help the guy but the guy standing right next to him brandishing the knife so people could just stand there and look.” “I came back to the station and when I got back to the station, the police had already arrived, put him in handcuffs and then they took him out of the station and as they’re walking past everyone, he’s within an arm’s reach of me, I just hear him say “This is for Syria” and he said it another time as they’re walking him up the slope of the station.”

Police said in addition to the one man seriously injured, one other person sustained minor injuries.
