At least 5 killed in major wildfires tearing through Los Angeles

At least five people have been killed by the fires raging through and around Los Angeles, with that number expected to rise.
Another fire broke out in the hills above Hollywood Boulevard Wednesday due to the dry and windy conditions that have propelled the wildfires over the week.
There are now six fast-moving wildfires, the latest one being the Sunset fire.
The Palisades fire which started on Tuesday has become the most destructive in modern L.A. history.
The fire spans about 69 square kilometres in between Malibu and Santa Monica, comparable to the size of Brantford, Ont., which is 72 square kilometres.
Nearly 2,000 structures have been destroyed.
Fire crews have been working around the clock to get the fires under control.
Some Canadian crews have been providing help in southern California including three helicopters – each fashioned with a 3,000 U.S. gallon water tank.
Around 130,000 people are under evacuation orders, with LAPD and city traffic officers helping to assist with gridlock.
Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass continues to urge residents to follow evacuation orders.
President Joe Biden has cancelled his trip to Italy last minute to monitor the raging wildfires across L.A.
LAX airport remains open and is operating normally according to its website, but passengers are advised to frequently check their flight status for any last minute updates.
