Assault at J.C. Beemer Park leaves 1 person in serious condition

One person remains in hospital in life-threatening condition after being attacked at J.C. Beemer Park in Hamilton Thursday morning.

Hamilton police say they received reports shortly before 9:30 a.m. of a physical altercation between two people at the park located at 68 Victoria Ave. North.

Officers quickly arrested a 37-year-old man when they arrived on scene and charged him with aggravated assault.

There is an encampment in J.C. Beemer Park where the assault took place (Duane Worth/CHCH News).

The name of the accused can not be released because this information has not been sworn to before the courts.

Police say they are not looking for any more suspects tied to this investigation.

Residences and businesses in the area with cameras are encouraged to check their footage for any suspicious activity between 9:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.
