Artwork honouring Hamilton’s healthcare workers installed near local healthcare facilities

More than a dozen traffic signal boxes in Hamilton have been covered in artwork meant to honour and support the city’s healthcare workers.
The signal boxes are located at major healthcare facilities across the city.
“Healthcare professionals are the new heroes in the COVID-19 pandemic, as they strive to meet the unprecedented challenges associated with this crisis,” said Hamilton Mayor Fred Eisenberger.
“These artworks are a powerful reminder of the strength of Hamilton’s arts scene and illustrates the inspirational work of our healthcare heroes in our city.”
A volunteer jury that included healthcare workers, graphic designers and artists chose the designs from over 90 submissions.
Fifteen artworks honouring and supporting Hamilton’s healthcare workers and the public they serve have been installed on select traffic signal boxes at major healthcare facilities across the city.

The 15 artists will each receive $650 for their designs.
The wraps are graffiti-resistant and are anticipated to remain in place for five to ten years.
