Arrest after Vineland standoff

A Vaughan man is in custody after a lengthy standoff with York and Niagara police in Vineland early this morning.

It stemmed from an alleged domestic assault in Vaughan. Niagara tactical police surrounded a home on Greenlane Rd around 3 am, and were joined by officers from York. Around 6 hours later the man was arrested without incident.

Gary Sibena, 56, is charged with domestic assault; he will have a bail hearing in a Newmarket court.
