Around the Bay Road Race celebrates over a century of tradition

The Around the Bay Road Race has been held in Hamilton almost every year since 1894, making it the oldest race of its kind in North America, predating the Boston Marathon.
Kicking off Sunday morning, nearly 5,000 people had completed the 30-kilometre circuit by the afternoon, and the cold temps didn’t seem to bother this year’s race participants.
London’s Phil Parrot-Migas crossed the finish line with a time of 1 hour, 37 minutes and Rachel Hannah of Port Elgin finished with a time of 1 hour, 47 minutes. Both Parrot-Migas and Hannah won last year.
