Around the Bay Road Race

More than 12,000 runners took part in the Around the Bay Road Race on Sunday.

The 30 kilometre race, which took place on the streets of Hamilton and Burlington, is the oldest road race in North America.

23 year old Terence Attema of Smithsville finished in 1st place with a time of 1 hour and 25 minutes, a mere few seconds ahead of 2nd place finisher, Josephat Ongeri.

On the women’s side, Lanni Marchant from London took 1st place and set a new record with a finishing time of 1 hour and 44 minutes.

Organizers say the event is poised to repeat the success of last year, when it raised $300,000 for Hamilton’s St. Joseph’s Healthcare.
