Armed cyclist arrested in east Hamilton

A 33-year-old Hamilton man has been arrested after he allegedly fled from police on a bicycle early Tuesday morning.
Shortly before 1:30 a.m., plainclothes officers spotted a man riding a black bicycle with no lights in the area of Sherman Ave. South and Main St. East.
The officers identified themselves as police and told the man to stop but he refused. The cyclist ended up falling off his bike and began running.
Police say he was taken into custody in the area of Wilson St. and Chestnut Ave. after he tried to resist arrest.
Officers discovered the man was carrying a 12 inch knife concealed under his jacket and an expandable baton.
He is facing several charges including resisting arrest and carrying concealed weapon.
The man was also found to be bound by a court order for a previous sentence for possession of a prohibited weapon.
He is schedule to appear in court later Tuesday.
