‘Armed and dangerous’ man sought in Burlington shooting

Update: Police have identified the suspect wanted in the shooting as 37-year-old David Lavoie of Hamilton. He is considered armed and dangerous.

The shooting happened shortly after 6 p.m. in the area of Maple Crossing Blvd.

Officers arrived on scene and found a man in his thirties suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to hospital.

Members of the Tactical Rescue Unit searched the area but could not locate the shooter.

Police say the suspect fled on foot.

He is described as white, bald, five-foot-ten, with a muscular build, and a “scruffy” beard. The man was wearing a black shirt that is believed to have been a tank top and grey pants.

“We do not believe this to be a random incident,” said Halton police in a news release.

Investigators are warning residents if they see the suspect, do not approach him, and call 911 immediately.
