The starting quarterback for Sunday’s east semi-final game will be the man who started the season as number 4 on the depth chart — Jeremiah Masoli.

Head Coach Kent Austin confirmed Friday that Masoli, who has not started a game for the Ticats since July of 2014, will start against the Argos.

Masoli had not thrown a pass in a game this season until he replaced Jacory Harris in the 2nd quarter of last weekend’s regular season finale in Ottawa and Masoli played well.

According to the oddsmakers, the Ticats are slight favourites to beat the Boatmen, but there are a lot of naysayers who don’t think the Cats can win — mostly because of the quarterback situation.

The Ticats won’t be asking Masoli to win the game by himself, but they do need him to limit mistakes and have a good game. They believe he can do it. They have to believe.
