Argos’ QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson will be eligible to play Sunday’s East Final against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats after violating CFL’s COVID-19 protocols.

On Thursday, Bethel-Thompson attended the Toronto Raptors game, a violation of the league’s protocols that prohibit players from attending large sporting events.

The CFL announced Friday their decision to allow Bethel-Thompson to play in the East Final if he produces a negative COVID test today, tomorrow (Saturday, December 4), and a rapid antigen test on Sunday, December 5. He must also quarantine at home for two days and two nights.

Bethel-Thompson was sent home Friday morning from the Argos facility and will not be allowed to attend practices or meetings in person.

Four additional Argo players, Dexter McCoil, Charleston Hughes, Llevi Noel, and Jeff Richards also attended the basketball game and are now subject to the same quarantine and testing requirements as Bethel-Thompson.

If Bethel-Thompson can’t play, Antonio Pipkin will start for Toronto on Sunday.

CFL insider, Justin Dunk, talked to Bubba O’Neil about the news and what it means for Sunday’s match-up against the Tiger Cats.
