Approximately 1,500 customers lose power in West Lincoln area

A wide-spread power outage occurred in the West Lincoln area Wednesday morning, affecting approximately 1,500 customers.
The major outage happened around 7 a.m., according to Niagara Peninsula Energy Incorporated’s website.
Large outage has occurred in the Smithville area. Wide spread in the area with approximately 1500 customers out. Crews are continuing on site this chilly morning working quickly to get the power back up. Thanks for your patience.

The electric utility company said Hydro One crews were on-site as the issue stemmed from them.
Workers were able to restore power before 9:30 a.m. so residents could heat their homes again as the temperature in the area currently sits below the freezing mark.
