Anticipation rises as Caledonia ‘Catch the Ace’ jackpot grows

Everyone’s eyes are on the prize in Caledonia as the jackpot grows for the latest “Catch the Ace” draw.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the jackpot sits at $230,000.
This follows the wild “Catch the Ace” saga in Hagersville earlier this year where the winner took home over $2 million.
Here in Caledonia, the name drawn last Thursday picked a five of hearts, meaning they got to take home the weekly prize of over $8,800.
But someone has yet to pick the coveted ace of spades, as the “Catch the Ace” lottery enters week 36 in Caledonia.

Every Thursday, a name is pulled from the tickets sold that day.
That person will win the weekly jackpot and they have a chance to win the grand prize if they choose the correct envelope that contains the ace of spades.
This week the jackpot is around $230,000 and growing.
Tickets cost $10 each or three for $25 and are back on sale today at the Caledonia legion from 2 p.m. to 7:40 p.m.
It’s cash only and tickets can only be purchased from a designated volunteer in-person at the legion.
All the money raised supports food programs with the Community Support Centre Haldimand-Norfolk.

Andrea Gee from the Community Support Center says the donation has a “huge impact for the community. This funding is allocated for our community kitchen and our community meal programs and we are seeing such an increase in the needs.”
And while there’s big money up for grabs, volunteers say that community support is the real motivation.
The lucky winner’s name will be drawn Thursday at 8 p.m. and they have the possibility of finding the ace of spades.
