Hamilton police say an 18-year old man and his friend were on the rooftop of Jackson Square when they were approached by another group of men.

They took the 18-year-old’s cellphone and then stabbed and slashed him. A passerby found the man and called for an ambulance.

The attackers remain on the loose. Staff at Jackson Square have said this is the fourth stabbing around the mall in the past month.

Three weeks ago, a 20-year old from Stoney Creek suffered serious stab wounds after he was attacked in the middle of the afternoon outside the mall’s James Street entrance, and just four days ago at the Jackson Square GO bus stop, a veteran driver was thrown from his vehicle by a passenger who refused to pay a fare.

73-year old Derrick Sealy struck his head on a fire hydrant, suffering a serious head injury.

Police detectives weren’t available to say what they are doing to combat the problem.
