Another Liberal MPP resigns

Another Liberal MPP has resigned, meaning Premier Wynne will now have to call five by-elections.

Today’s resignation comes from former Consumer Services Minister Margarett Best in Scarborough-Guildwood. Best issued a statement late today announcing she was leaving after more than five years, but offered no reason for her departure.

She hasn’t been seen in the legislature since being dropped from cabinet last February, after Wynne took over as premier from Dalton McGuinty.

As Minister of Health Promotion, Best helped pass legislation that banned smoking in cars with children.
