The fourth annual “Spooky Awards” competition is making its big return to Niagara Falls this October.

The event is a free, outdoor, Halloween-themed decorating competition open to all Niagara Falls residents that awards prizes for People’s Choice, Judge’s Choice and Best Effects.

Last year’s competition saw over 60 properties participating.

Displays will be lit from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. from Oct. 27 to 29 and residents can tour the city using the official Spooky Map found on the city’s website. During this time votes will be cast in all categories.

The winner will be announced on Halloween itself to give residents the chance to map out their trick-or-treating routes to include the spookiest houses that the city has to offer.

The official deadline to enter the competition is Oct. 25.
