Anniversary of botched OPP raid in Caledonia

Wednesday marks five years since the OPP’s attempt to raid the native-occupied Douglas Creek Estates.

Several Six Nations protestors were arrested – but the police action sparked a major uprising in the small town coping with an ongoing land claim issue.
Early that morning the raid blew up into a massive clash between protesters and police. Fires were lit; roads were shut down.
And in the weeks to follow there were several violent outbursts involving some people from the town, police and protesters.
As anyone who follows the story knows, five years later and the land claim dispute has yet to be resolved.
