Ancaster takedown

Shots were fired during a high risk takedown attempt in Ancaster Monday night. Plain clothes officers from the OPP tried to make an arrest, but their target got away.
Trevor Van Hoffen was getting ready to close up his business for the night when he heard a gunshots. “Thinking back I heard something, I thought it was the back door of a truck closing didn’t think anything of it at the time.”
A few minutes later he saw the commotion at an Esso Station at the corner of Golf Links and Stonechurch. The OPP were involved in a multi-agency investigation.
A brief media release from the OPP was sent out Tuesday morning stating, “Plain clothes officers attempted to stop a suspect on Golf Links Road in Ancaster, Ontario when it resulted in a high risk take down during which shots were fired.”
The OPP say the investigation is ongoing, and that there are no public safety concerns at this time.
The Esso Station was open throughout the day, and staff there said they didn’t know what happened either. The suspect is still on the run.
