Ancaster residents discover dinosaurs of the past and present

The Ancaster Fairgrounds was invaded by all things feathery and scaly this weekend.
It was all apart of the Dinosaurs Past and Present event hosted by the Canadian Raptor Conservancy and Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo. The event featured free-flying birds of prey , dinosaur fossils, snakes, scorpions and even a 38-foot long Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton. Guests were able to get up-close and personal with some of their favourite creatures.
“It gives the kids a sense of what’s going on in the world around them especially these specific animals, ” says Matthew Morgan, a falconer with the Canadian Raptor Conservancy. “It’s always hard to get close to them. Reptiles are always hidden and birds are up in the air, so it’s a good chance to bring the kids close to them.”
More than 8 species of birds were on hand including eagles, falcons, and owls. Birds of prey are the only surviving descendants of dinosaurs.
