Alligator found in Hamilton backyard

A family living in Hamilton’s east end were in for quite the surprise earlier this week when they found a five-foot-long alligator roaming around in their backyard.

Two girls were getting out of the pool when they spotted the unexpected visitor. The family called 9-1-1 immediately, and animal control came to remove the reptile.

Alligators are banned under Hamilton’s animal control bylaw and it’s still unclear how the creature found its way into the home on Webster Rd.
