Alleged hate attack at Hamilton apartment complex

A Hamilton man is facing an assault charge for an alleged hate crime.

Police say a 17 year old girl went into the foyer of her apartment building on Oxford Street yesterday, when a man began yelling racial slurs at her. They say he became aggressive and chased her out of the building.

When the girl and her mother went to the police station to file a report, they saw the man walk in shortly after them. Police say he began yelling at the girl, and was arrested.

Robert McKenna, 67, of Hamilton is charged with assault.
