All publicly funded schools in Ontario to close for two weeks following March break

Ontario has announced it will close all publicly funded schools for two weeks following the March break amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Elementary and secondary schools whether they are public or catholic will be closed.

The break was due to begin on Saturday, March 14, and will now continue to April 5.

A joint statement from Premier Doug Ford, the health minister and the education minister says the decision is based on the advice of the province’s chief medical officer of health.

The province announced 17 new cases of the novel coronavirus today, bringing the total number in the province to 59.
