The RCMP say a man wanted in the shooting death of two officers in St. Albert, just north of Edmonton early this Saturday morning is dead.
Both officers remain in hospital.
Const. David Matthew Wynn, 42, remains in grave condition while Aux. Const. Derek Walter Bond, 49, is listed in serious but stable condition.
The suspect who is still unnamed was tracked to a rural home near a golf course where it appears he forced his way inside. When the RCMP entered, the found the suspect lifeless.
Marlin Degrand from the RCMP updated the investigation just after 5:30 p.m.
“At no time during these efforts to arrest the suspect at that residence did officers speak with the suspect or fire their weapons. This incident is however considered an “in custody arrest” in terms of the Police Act of Alberta, because the police had in fact established containment at a scene where the suspect was eventually found deceased.”
The RCMP handle policing in most of rural Alberta. Officers there were called to a casino in the middle of the night to investigate a stolen vehicle.

Police say just the two shots were fired.
