Fire crews in northern Alberta are getting some much needed help from cooler temperatures as they struggle to control the wildfire that sent more than 80 000 residents fleeing Fort McMurray last week. There’s even a little rain in the forecast.

Alberta Premier Rachel Notley and a team of planners hope to go to Fort McMurray today to survey the damage and begin work on getting evacuees back home.

The final stage of a massive evacuation by land and air is over. The last of 25 000 residents who’d fled north to oil patch work camps last week have now been relocated to areas south of the fire.
