Advanced voting starts for Hamilton Centre’s provincial by-election

Advance votes for a new member of provincial parliament (MPP) for Hamilton Centre can be cast.

Residents can vote in advance until March 15 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at The Centre on Barton.

Votes can also be cast from March 8 to 10 at three separate locations: Bernie Morelli Recreation Centre on Cannon St. East, Hamilton Public Library’s central location, and the First Unitarian Church of Hamilton on Dundurn St.

The NDP’s candidate, Sarah Jama, is the executive director of the Disability Justice Network of Ontario.

Deirdre Pike, who is running for the Liberals, is a justice and outreach consultant for the Anglican Diocese of Niagara and an LGBTQ advocate.

The Progressive Conservative candidate is Hamilton police officer Peter Wiesner.

Ten candidates representing eight different parties are running in total. Election Day is slated for March 16.
