The conclusion to director Roy Andersson’s “living” trilogy, A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence follows won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.
The Swedish comedy-drama is the third part in director Roy Andersson’s “living” trilogy.
Like a modern times Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, Sam and Jonathan, two travelling salesmen peddling novelty items, take us on a kaleidoscopic wandering through human destinies. A trip that shows us the beauty of single moments, the pettiness of others, the humour and tragedy that is in us, life’s grander as well as frailty of humanity.
Expect an interesting ride with Andersson, “I envision A PIGEON as comical from beginning to end, emotional and uplifting. But from time to time, the audience will also witness outbreaks of terror. The range between humour and horror will be profound.”
The Swedish language film will be played with English subtitles at the TIFF Bell Lightbox.
A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence is rated PG.
