“A long and difficult job.”

At one point, Hurricane Laura was described as unsurvivable.  Winds were sometimes in excess of 200 kilometres an hour as it ripped through the U.S. Gulf Coast.. Just over a dozen people were killed before the winds died and the storm moved on.  Damage, particularly to Louisiana, is in the billions and the state’s governor says restoring power will be a “long and difficult” job. 370-thousand homes and businesses in Louisiana are still without power. In Lake Charles alone, 500 transmission lines were damaged or destroyed. 17-thousand linemen, many from out-of-state, are working to turn the lights back on. But, the governor says it won’t be happening soon.
