Ontario’s Auditor General has now been asked to broaden his examination of the scrapping of a gas plant in Mississauga.

The gas plant was cancelled just days before the 2011 election. Premier Designate Kathleen Wynne has asked ask Jim McCarter to add the cancelled gas plant in Oakville to his current probe of the Mississauga project. Wynne says she hopes the auditor’s report can be completed “in a timely manner.” Wynne made a leadership campaign commitment to get all the facts out about the decision to kill the two projects, which cost taxpayers at least $230 million.
