A family is reeling after their two-year-old daughter died suddenly from a strep A infection.

It’s a rare but serious bacterial infection that can develop very quickly into low blood pressure, multiple organ failure and even death.

Her parents say Nevaeh Muley was full of fun, a two-year-old who could be a handful.

On March 3rd, Nevaeh came down with a fever.

Her mom gave her medicine for the fever and did what parents are supposed to do.

The next day Nevaeh had to be taken to hospital in an ambulance, where her heart stopped.

Nevaeh passed away from a Strep A infection.

Streptococcus A is a common bacteria that causes sore throats, but it can lead to serious complications, like something called invasive Group A Streptococcal disease, or I-Gas, that can lead to Toxic Shock Syndrome and death.

There have been warnings from the World Health Organization, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, and officials in Britain about a worldwide increase in the deadly disease in recent years.

But Navaeh’s parents didn’t hear any warnings here in Ontario before their daughter passed away.

They want to warn other parents.

Eric and Donna are left with a memory wall of their daughter, and ashes in a teddy bear from a little girl whose name NEVEAH, is heaven spelled backward.

The parents have set up a go fund me page to help with the costs of Navaeh’s funeral expenses.

For other parents who are wondering, they say there is the suggestion that kids coming out of Covid isolation may not have the immunity that kids in the past had, possibly leading to the increase in this illness that we’re seeing.
