A chemical spill has been found in Red Hill Creek, with evidence of wildlife being harmed

While on a monthly check of the marsh area by the Red Hill Valley Parkway near King-street, the stewards of Red Hill watershed made a discovery of black tar.
The city of Hamilton’s water department confirms that the shiny black mass is tar. The substance seems to have exploded across several meters, covering any living thing in its path.
The city says the spill isn’t due to the repaving of the Red Hill Valley Parkway but is a result of a truck rollover last November that spilled the substance across all lanes of the highway.
A vacuum truck is set to clean up the mess.
