Brantford high school teacher charged with sexual assault

Students at North Park Collegiate and Vocational Secondary School in Brantford are concerned about sexual assault and interference charges laid against 56-year-old tech teacher William Gemmell.
The investigation began over one month ago on November 1st, but Gemmell was only sent home from his teaching duties last week.
Grand Erie District School Board said in a statement “he was reassigned to home when we learned last week that charges were forthcoming. We had to wait for police to complete their investigation.”
Brantford police say one girl was involved and both charges were laid in relation to the same incident.
They will not be releasing the age or the grade the victim is in, as to not identify her. Police would only say that she is between 14 and 18 years old.
Parents say an automated message was sent home to guardians about the ongoing investigation involving Gemmell.
