95-year-old man becomes oldest organ donor in U.S. history after woman receives his liver

One woman is alive thanks to a new liver she received from a 95-year-old man.

The transplant made former coal miner and Second World War veteran Cecil Lockhart from West Virginia the oldest organ donor in U.S. history.

The previous record for oldest donor was 93 years old.

His daughter says Lockhart was inspired to become an organ donor after his son’s death in 2010.

Tissue donations from his son helped 75 people and his corneas stored sight to two others.
